The cultural mosaic of present Romania is the result of a fascinating history with many ups and downs.

Dacians, Romans, Goths, Vandals, Gepids, Avars, Germans, Turks, Greeks, Hungarians, Russians, Tartars, Szeklers, Poles, Bulgarians, Ukrainians, Serbs and Albanians, they all had something to take but also to give to this blended culture, showing its rich heritage in castles and churches, medieval cities and traditional villages, myths and legends but also in traditions, religion, mentalities, and cuisine.

The core of the Old Europe supposedly centered 7000 years ago in present day Eastern Romania, Sarmizegetusa – the Dacian Capital city, built on artificial terraces at 1200m altitude in Sureanu Mountains, thriving on advanced iron industry, the mediaeval castles and fortified churches decorating the Transylvanian landscape, are a just a few benchmarks of a turbulent history spanning on a generous timeframe.
